The Robinson R44 Helicopter

These helicopters are manufactured by the Robinson Helicopter Company based in California USA.  They are designed by Frank D. Robinson, and first flew on 31 March 1990.  Its a four-seater light helicopter with hydraulically assisted flight controls.   Single-engined with a semi-rigid two-bladed main rotor and a two-bladed tail rotor, with skid landing gear.  It has an enclosed cabin with two rows of side-by-side seating for a pilot and three passengers. 

In 1997, a R44 was piloted by Jennifer Murray for the first helicopter circumnavigation of the world by a woman, covering a distance of 36000 miles in 97 days.
